QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online is still the default request from Nigerian clients who already have a US or UK accountant. You pay in dollars, you configure Nigerian VAT yourself, and you will need a third party for NRS e-invoicing. It is the wrong buy if the only job is statutory PAYE.

What it actually is
QuickBooks Online is a US general ledger with the deepest accountant network in this set. It is not a Nigerian payroll product, not an NRS e-invoicing product, and not a spend card. Firms buy it for the file their foreign accountant already knows.
Features
| Feature | Coverage | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Double-entry ledger | Core strength | The reason it is still requested: a proper cloud GL. |
| Accountant portal | Core strength | ProAdvisor / accountant access is the ecosystem, not a bolt-on. |
| Invoicing | Strong | AR is mature. Nigerian statutory invoice XML is not. |
| Financial reports | Strong | Plus/Advanced add inventory, projects and custom reports. |
| Multi-currency | Strong | From Essentials upward on the US plan chart. |
| Bookkeeping | Strong | Bank rules and recurring entries; still a US chart by default. |
| Inventory | Present | Plus and above. Not an MRP system. |
| Bank feeds | Present | Excellent where Intuit lists the bank. Confirm Nigerian banks first. |
| VAT | Limited | 7.5% can be a tax rate. Returns are not an NRS export. |
| WHT | Limited | Usually a journal or a custom tax, not a Nigerian schedule. |
| Payroll / PAYE | Not offered | QuickBooks Payroll is not the NTA 2025 engine. |
| E-invoicing | Not offered | No native NRS Access Point. Integrators sit in between. |
| Spend / cards | Limited | Bills exist on Essentials+. Not a corporate-card spend suite. |

Best for
- Practices whose clients already live in QuickBooks
- Exporters who need USD AR in the same file as NGN expenses
- Teams that will pay an integrator for e-invoicing
Not suitable for
- A first-time bookkeeper who only needs PAYE and VAT
- Anyone budgeting a fixed naira subscription
- Manufacturers who need shop-floor inventory plus NRS in one vendor
Local support
Intuit has no Nigeria list price and no NTA 2025 localisation pack. Support is global chat/phone. Implementation in Lagos is done by independent QuickBooks ProAdvisors, not by Intuit Nigeria.
Migration notes
Leaving Sage 50 or Excel into QBO is a mapped trial-balance plus open AR/AP import. Chart names will not match NRS schedules until you rebuild them. Keep the desktop file until the first VAT period closes in QBO.
What does QuickBooks cost in naira?
At ₦1,329.43/$ (CBN, 1 Sep 2026) Simple Start is ₦50,502 a month before bank spread. Advanced is ₦365,475. Payroll is extra.
Does QuickBooks support Nigerian e-invoicing?
Not as a native NRS Access Point. Firms that stay on QBO add middleware. If e-invoicing is the buying trigger, start with a local product or an ERP that your integrator already certified.
How do Nigerian accountants actually use it?
As the group ledger for clients with foreign investors, not as the PAYE engine. The practice then runs payroll in a Nigerian app and journals the expense into QBO.
