CIT small-company test Nigeria 2026
Small companies are at 0% CIT; others at 30% in the printed Act. Whether ‘small’ is ₦50 million or ₦100 million turnover, with ₦250 million of assets, is the live dispute. Professional services are out. This page shows both tests.

What does the printed Act say?
Section 56 sets 0% for small companies and 30% for others. Public commentaries disagree on whether the turnover line in the print is ₦50 million or ₦100 million. We will not launder that into one number.
Are professional firms small companies?
No. The exclusion is the part almost every serious note agrees on. A ₦40 million law firm is not a 0% CIT story just because turnover looks ‘SME’.
What about the 15% effective tax rate?
That is a large-MNE / ₦50 billion turnover rule, not an SME tool. Our checker does not pretend to be a GloBE engine.
